Christian Management Australia (CMA) is leaving the Evangelical Alliance, which they have been a part of since they began in 2002.

The Brisbane-based CMA has been operating as a self-governing ministry of Evangelical Alliance, and exists to serve Christian churches and non-profit organisations by providing resources regarding leadership and management. They also have an interest in supporting Christians in business, helping people to see how faith and management can intersect.

Asked why the CMA are leaving the Evangelical Alliance, National Director Gary Williams says the time is right for CMA to "leave the nest" and relieve EA of the need to provide corporate oversight, which will also allow CMA freedom to grow. CMA want to extend their work into four additional areas: stewardship, leadership, Christian business, and marketplace ministry. Work in the area of stewardship has already begun, with the publication of "CMA’s Guiding Principles of Ministry Resourcing".

Gary Williams is adamant that the separation of CMA from EA is "amicable and conflict free" and adds, “given that these kinds of separations are often fraught with conflict, we are particularly pleased with the God-honouring way in which all the discussions and processes have taken place.”

In order to establish their new organisation and separate fully from the EA, CMA are seeking financial assistance for establishment and legal costs, to repay a debt to EA, and build a financial base for the new entity.

Meanwhile, the position of National Director for Evangelical Alliance remains open since the resignation of Dr Cheryl Catford in July last year. Eternity was told EA are prayerfully seeking God's guidance as they consider the opportunities ahead.
