Geoff Deane, Sydney Missionary and Bible College Chairman recently announced the retirement from SMBC of Rev. David Cook, Principal, effective end 2011, following over 25 years service.
SMBC has grown significantly from when David and Maxine Cook came in 1986. There are now multiple externally accredited courses, a large faculty, twin campuses and an ever growing student body. Students regularly comment on the strength of the diverse community and the teaching they receive at SMBC. David’s contribution to the development of strong biblical expository preaching has had a wide influence. May this year marks the 11th SMBC Biennial Preaching Conference.
David and Maxine said, ‘The past 25 years have been years of privilege for us as we have seen so many students pass through the campus and enter into productive Christian service’.
David also expressed his grateful thanks to ‘the dear supporters of SMBC’ who contribute so essentially (behind the scenes) with prayer and financial support.
David and Maxine thanked the College Board, the faculty, the staff and the many students who have studied with them over the years and for the rich fellowship they have enjoyed. They have decided that this year is the appropriate time to move on to other areas of ministry having been greatly enriched by their time at SMBC.
Geoff Deane, has advised that the Board and faculty are strongly committed to a smooth transition of leadership, and, importantly, the ongoing work of the College through its Bible-centred training in an interdenominational and missional community.
