1 India
As a recent visitor to India I was amazed at the sacrifice being made by Christians to bring the gospel to those who have not heard.
I saw pastors who had given up good corporate jobs living in a single room with their families and spending each day ministering in a number of churches to meet the spiritual and physical needs of people.
While there I visited REAP (Relief, Education, Evangelism and Aid Program) and met Samuel & Joanna. About 6 months ago they were living in Orissa pastoring a church. Due to the persecution, their home and church were burned along with many others. As they fled, Joanna, who was 6 months pregnant, was separated from Samuel and lived in a forest for a week. They were reunited and travelled to Hyderabad where Samuel, Joanna and their son now share a 2 bedroom apartment with 10 orphans. Their heart is still in Orissa even though Christians are being persecuted and killed daily there because of the gospel.
2 Fiji
Bua Bay on Vanua Levu was just one of the remote communities visited by the Dayspring Yacht Ministry. Captain Roger Bolam sails the yacht Seahawk across the South Pacific to bring God’s word to these island communities.
A team made up of representatives from the Bible Society, Campus Crusade for Christ and Youth With a Mission took a cargo of Scriptures – including copies of the Romanised Fijian Hindi New Testament, and Sunday School materials Capt Bolam reports, “It was so encouraging to be able to not just present the gospel, but to provide Bibles and other resources which will allow people to grow stronger in their faith. Books are a real luxury in Fiji.”
3 Kids games
A team of 14 year twelve and first year uni students returned from another part of Fiji where the team spent two weeks in a variety of villages running KidsGames in conjunction with the Bible Societies of NSW & the South Pacific. During the week children heard the gospel, and learnt the song “Read Your Bible, Pray every day & you will grow grow grow.” At the closing ceremony each child received their own copy of a Bible in their own language. Ashleigh couldn’t wait to read her new book, her book about who Jesus is - regardless of what was going on around her, she just wants to read ... her book about Jesus in her language ... 4 Europe
Becky Pippert who has been teaching evangelism on the European continent reports there are factions within the European Union that are hoping to pass a bill that will make evangelism an illegal activity.
A medical doctor who simply told a distraught patient: “Don’t worry, God loves you”, is now under investigation and was recently grilled for eight solid hours by a medical board. He isn’t allowed to return to his practice until his “case” has been cleared.
